Society of Friends of DIW Berlin (VdF)

The Society of Friends at a glance.

The internationally recognized work of DIW Berlin has been supported both financially and intellectually by the Society of Friends of DIW Berlin inc. (VdF) since 1951. VdF is recognized as a non-profit society.

The objectives of the Society of Friends include partnerships with national and international enterprises, establishing networks and the cooperation between scientists and entrepreneurs. The focus is on the consolidation of these two different worlds, which received new incentives based on some fundamental changes in 2004.

In addition to a new design, the range of activities of VdF-members was expanded. In October 2004, the Friedensburg Discussions were held for the first time. The venue is characterized by individuality, closeness and confidentiality. The retired German Chancellor Helmut Schmidt was a guest at the first Friedensburg Discussion in October. In 2005, another exclusive discussion group will be inaugurated with the President’s Dinner, which will meet twice a year with up to four members of the VdF.
