Details

The project aims to analyze the effects of the German „Energiewende" and its pronounced increase of investments and utilization of renewable energy sources on the electricity market, electricity trade, power plant fleet and electricity grids. An innovative model tool box will be developed through detailed representation of the linked markets for electricity transmission capacity, reserve capacities, wholesale trade products, power plant capacity and renewable energy. The models will be used for analysis, as well as scenario and policy development in the field. The project quantifies for the first time the interdependency of the different policy instruments for the integration of renewable energy, and derives conclusions for the design of a balanced policy approach.
