International Economics

The department at a glance

Research profile

The department will focus on the analysis of financial markets in the global economy, i.e. in developed countries as well as in developing and emerging economies. The primary goals are to gain new insights into the relationships, structures, and operations of actors in a global financial system, and to develop recommendations for politico-economic action based on this knowledge. In terms of content, the department is subdivided into two main areas of focus: International Financial Markets and Financial Development.

From their findings, the researchers of the Department of International Economics will derive policy recommendations and introduce them into the public debate on the structure and organization of financial markets in the global economy. Since they broaden the recommendations and outcomes of a global perspective in policy advice, the focal points of the new department will complement those of the cluster’s other departments.
