Executive Board, Member's Meeting, Board of Trustees and Scientific Advisory Board

Executive Board

The Executive Board of DIW Berlin is formed by the President, another scientific Executive Board Member and the Managing Director.


Scientific Advisory Board

The Scientific Advisory Board is comprised of twelve internationally recognised active scientists who give advice to the Institute. It also assesses the research of the Institute and gives reports about the work done to the Board of Trustees. The Scientific Advisory Board is involved in selective appointments or likewise procedures.


Survey Committee (SOEP)

Up to nine scholars appointed by the Board of Trustees provide advice on the SOEP survey and SOEP service ("the SOEP").


Board of Trustees

The Board of Trustees is comprised of up to fifteen people working in the fields of science, economics, in unions and public administration.
The Board of Trustees is engaged with the supervision and the giving of advice to the Executive Board. Its tasks also include the appointment to and withdrawal of members from the Executive Board as well as appointments of members to the Scientific Advisory Board.


Member's Meeting

The Members' Meeting is the highest decision-making body of DIW Berlin. The associations' members support the internal and external aims of DIW Berlin. Members are liable to subscription. The Federal Government of Germany and the State of Berlin are permanent association members. They support the Institute's activities according to the "Skeleton Agreement of Research Support" of 28 November 1975  which stipulated that the Institute receive equivalent research funding from the state of Berlin and the Federal Republic.
