Carsten Schröder has been offered an appointment (W3-Professur) in the Department of Economics at the Freie Universität Berlin as “Professor of Economics, with a focus on Empirical Economic Research” in conjunction with a position as Head of the Applied Panel Analysis area in the SOEP at DIW Berlin. Carsten obtained his doctorate at the Christian-Albrechts-University of Kiel. Carsten worked as a Post Doc Researcher at the Freie Universität Berlin (2005-7), before he became a Junior Professor at Christian-Albrechts-University of Kiel in 2007. During his Professorship, he spent research semesters at the DIW Berlin, the Institute for the World Economy in Kiel, and the Max- Planck Institute for Demographic Research in Rostock. Carsten’s research interests lie in the broad area of public economics, with focus on distributional economics, resource, and pension economics. His work has been published in outlets such as the Journal of Public Economics, the Journal of Economic Inequality, and the Journal of Business and Economic Statistics. We hope that he will accept the appointment and that we will soon be able to welcome him to the SOEP team.
