Workshop on "Neighbourhood Effects - Empirical analyses and datasets on a small regional scale" - June 5-6, 2014 at the RWI Essen

Report of April 17, 2014

The workshop concludes the project “Neighbourhood effects: Analysis of individual rational behaviour in a social context”. The project consortium consists of RWI, the German  Institute for Economic Research (DIW Berlin), the Institute for Employment Research (IAB) and the University of Melbourne.

The aim of the project is to geo-reference existing micro-level data sets, e.g. the SOEP or the LIAB, and to enrich them with information at a highly disaggregate regional level, e.g. at the county or zip code level. This allows for econometric analyses of the social context on individual behavior such as unemployment benefit recipiency, exit from unemployment, or the social integration of migrants.
