Berlin Lunchtime Meeting A lost generation? Which way out? How to integrate jobless, disadvantaged and disengaged young people

Presentation: Stéphane Carcillo | Senior Economist, OECD Directorate for Employment, Labour and Social Affairs
Comment: Dr. Volker Born | Director Vocational Education and Training, German Confederation of Skilled Crafts (ZdH)
Moderation: Heino v. Meyer | OECD Berlin Centre

Despite overall positive employment trends a significant number of young people are neither in employment nor in education or training (NEETs).  What is their situation in Germany compared to other OECD Member countries?  Which groups are most affected?  How do early school leavers fare?  What are associated poverty and health risks?  Which policies and measures can address these problems and help tap the potential.  Answers will also be key for the successful integration of young migrants and refugees.  The presentation will draw on results of the recent OECD report ‘Society at a Glance’ as well as on practical experiences with integration of NEETs in Germany.
