Nikolai Jäger

Nikolai joined the DIW Graduate Center in October 2023. He holds a bachelor's degree in economics and social sciences from the University of Cologne and a master's degree in economics from Tilburg University. In his master's thesis, Nikolai investigated the effect of renewables on gas substitution during the 2022 energy crisis in the German electricity market. He also gained experience at the intersection between research and policy at the Deutsche Bundesbank, where he worked for DG Monetary Policy Analysis and Implementation Framework on the topics of flexible purchase programs and green financing. His research interests are in the field of environmental economics, with a focus on renewable energy and sustainable finance.
