Task 52 addresses the critical role of hydrogen in decarbonizing the global steel industry. It brings together global partners to coordinate efforts in technology assessment, supply chain and infrastructure, power system integration, and global steel pathways for hydrogen-based steelmaking. The hybrid workshop, for which participants of 50 organizations worldwide have already registered, aims to finalize the structure and scope of the Task; connect international expertise; and launch coordinated efforts in knowledge mapping, gap identification, and collaborative activities across research, industry, and policy engagement. The Task is jointly led by Monash University, the University of Oxford, PIK Potsdam and DIW Berlin.
