SUMMARY:Dynamic dependencies between employment of mothers and the use of household-related services of child care
DESCRIPTION:12:30 - 13:30 // Employment rates of mothers with young children have increased in the past years. Similar developments can be found for the use of childcare facilities and household-related services. This paper discusses the relationship between these variables with special focus on their dynamic dependencies over time. Using data of the German Socio-Economic Panel, the effects of the use household services and childcare on employment are quantified in static regressions. Based on these regressions, a dynamic mulitvariate probit model estimates the variations in the relationship between employment, childcare and the use of household-related services, showing the patterns of interaction in these variables interact.
