Thomas Meissner's Visiting Research Stay at SOEP in June and July 2026

Report of September 2, 2026

Dr. Thomas Meissner, Associate Professor in the Department of Microeconomics and Public Economics at Maastricht University's School of Business and Economics, was a Visiting Researcher at SOEP at DIW Berlin from June 11 to July 19, 2026.

During his stay, the behavioral economist participated in SOEP seminars and the SOEP Conference and engaged in discussions with researchers from across SOEP. His visit was hosted by Dr. Levent Neyse, Head of the SOEP Innovation Sample (SOEP-IS).

The central focus of the visit was collaboration on ongoing and future research projects in behavioral economics and decision-making. Meissner and Neyse worked on the development of a planned SOEP-IS module on financial literacy. They also collaborated on a joint study examining the characteristics and motivations of business executives and entrepreneurs.

As co-founder of the Dutch Business Panel, Meissner contributed valuable expertise to discussions on survey research, behavioral economics, and the study of decision-making among business leaders. His experience enriched the academic exchange at SOEP and supported the advancement of several research initiatives.

SOEP thanks Thomas Meissner for his visit and looks forward to continuing the collaboration.
