Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF)

In Berlin, many universities and research institutes deal with education research. The “Berlin Interdisciplinary Education Research Network (BIEN) ” offers young scientists (Post-Docs, doctoral students and Master students) from different disciplines in education research a forum to network systematically and exchange research ideas and experiences. The BIEN network is funded by the BMBF and consists of 13 participating research institutes and universities in Berlin and Potsdam.

Core network activities include quarterly seminars, an annual conference, an annual Soft-Skill-Workshop (annually) and a Data Workshop (annually, in cooperation with LIfBi). Renowned scholars from Germany and abroad are invited to the events in order to present and discuss results from education research, covering the whole life course. BIEN facilitates the exchange and discussion of education topics while expanding networks beyond the confinements of specific disciplines. All activities are open to anyone who is interested, but require a registration through the project website.
