The process of accepting submissions to SOEPpapers is straightforward. If a paper has already appeared in another discussion paper series with a quality control process (e.g. IZA, NBER, LIS, WZB or in an academic series like that of the University of Zurich), it will be accepted automatically as a SOEPpaper. Reformatting the text is not necessary.
Otherwise, the submission will be evaluated by a member of the editorial team. If an evaluation is necessary, it will always result in a yes/no decision. There are no referee reports.
We would be very grateful, if you could refer in your paper to one of the following articles explaining the SOEP and/or to the PanelWhiz article. Your citation will not only make it easier for others to start using SOEP and/or PanelWhiz; it can and should also serve to honor and “reward” the SOEP/PanelWhiz authors (for more information see: SOEPnewsletter 86/2009 (PDF, 1.52 MB)):

Because precise references to data sources are becoming increasingly important in the scientific research community, the SOEP group recommends citing the SOEP data as follows, e.g., for version 32:
Socio-Economic Panel (SOEP), data for years 1984-2017, version 34, SOEP, 2019,
Sozio-oekonomisches Panel (SOEP), Daten für die Jahre 1984-2017, Version 34, SOEP, 2019, doi:10.5684/soep.v34.

In the near future, we plan to offer comprehensive searches by theme, author, and period of publication. Please provide the following information about your work to enable these searches, giving between one and three keywords from the following list (only the bold items):
SOEPpapers will also be available via the online economic publication archives RePEc, SSRN, and EconStor. Adding keywords and/or JEL codes to your paper will make it easier to find it in this database as well.
