The Socio-Economic Panel research infrastructure (SOEP) based at DIW Berlin is seeking to fill the following positions, starting as soon as possible:

Research opportunities for PhDs and Postdocs

The SOEP leads a consortium of research institutes that seek to understand the effects of the recent minimum wage reform in Germany on employment, inequality, and other socio-economic outcomes. The project is funded for three years from 2015-17 by the Leibniz Association under the title “Evaluating the Minimum Wage Introduction in Germany (EVA-MIN)”. Within the EVA-MIN project, we are collaborating with the Institute for Employment Research in Nuremberg (IAB) and the University of Potsdam, Chair of Empirical Economics.

As part of the project, we are offering:

  1. 3 research stays for doctorate students for up to three months salary equivalent to TVöD13 (100%).
  2. 4 research stays for post-doctorate students for up to two months salary equivalent to TVöD14 (100%).

During their research stays, the scholars are expected to cooperate with the researchers in the EVA-MIN project and pursue their own research on minimum-wage policies, ideally with a focus on Germany. The scholars get access to the SOEP data – including the variables from the recently introduced minimum-wage module – and remote access to the IAB databases.

The working language is English and German.
