Greece is still in dire straits: Since 2008 GDP has declined by 25 per cent in cumulative terms, unemployment has reached more than 25 percent. The end of the downward spiral is expected for 2014.
The Troika (consisting of the EU, the IMF and the ECB) has negotiated several programmes with the Greek government, which have comprised ambitious structural and institutional reforms, fiscal consolidation and a broad set of economic reforms. In the meantime reform progress can be reported, though large uncertainy remains about the ultimate success of Greek's transformation process and its future in Europe. This Berlin Lunchtime Meeting focusses on the current situation and future prospects of Greece's transformation process.
