Pao-Yu Oei studied industrial engineering (Dipl. Ing.) before receiving his PhD in economics (Dr. rer. oec.) at the Berlin Institute of Technology (TU Berlin). Since 2017 he has been head of Research Group CoalExit examining ways for a just post carbon transition at TU Berlin https://www.wip.tu-berlin.de/menue/kontakt_mitarbeiterinnen/dr_pao_yu_oei/. He is also guest researcher at the German Institute for Economic Research (DIW Berlin). In 2014 he had research stays at the University of Maryland and the International Institute of Applied System Analysis (IIASA).
