Katherine joined the DIW Berlin as Advisor to the Executive Board in January 2019; her thematic focus lies on organisation, strategy and operative management.
She previously held the position of Executive Manager at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin (2015-2019), where she was in charge of establishing the administrative framework of the Centre for Anthropological Research on Museums and Heritage. Her role was to support Alexander-von-Humboldt-Professor and CARMAH Director Sharon Macdonald in the strategic development of the centre and its research projects. This included managing all organizational matters related to employment, external funding and planning, applying for national and international research grants, developing scientific events and fostering CARMAH’s public relations.
Before moving to Berlin Katherine worked in universitary project management and early career researcher development. As coordinating assistant of the project "Human Resource Development in Law and Economics in India and Europe" (2005-2008) and project coordinator of the "China-EU School of Law" in Beijing (2008-2011) - both Universität Hamburg - she acquired valuable experience in organisation, controlling, committee work and public relations in an international environment and with an political and multi-stakeholder dimension. At the Ruhr-Universität Bochum (2011-2015) Katherine was a Fellow at the Institute of Development Research and Development Policy, and supported the Ruhr Research School's grad school project "Research School plus" as Doctoral Representative Social Sciences in the development of internationalisation strategies for early career researchers as well as in the assignment of travel bursaries (DFG).
Katherine holds an LL.B. in Law and German from the University of Bristol, UK and a joint LL.M. in Law and Economics from the Universität Hamburg, Germany, and the Universiteit Gent, Belgium.
