16.04.2023 23:59The research-based infrastructure of the Socio-Economic Panel (SOEP), based at DIW Berlin, is one of the largest and longest-running multidisciplinary panel studies in the world, currently surveying about 30,000 people in nearly 15,000 households each year. SOEP claims to capture social change and is thus confronted with ever new and diverse topics and tasks. Its data collection and generation follows the concept of the survey or data life cycle.
We are hiring for the following position, to start as soon as possible:
Research Associate (f/m/nonbinary)
(full-time at 39 hours per week, part-time possible)
Tasks
- Scientific research in the field of longitudinal analysis, with a focus on applied SOEP analyses, particularly in the areas of occupational mobility and labor market research
- Preparation as well as generation and documentation of user-friendly SOEP variables in the field of retrospective longitudinal data (employment, education, and family/partnership)
- Representation of the research area by publishing in peer-reviewed journals, the DIW Weekly Report, and DIW Discussion Papers; holding lectures at national and international conferences; and giving presentations of current research at DIW events
Requirements
- Completed university studies in the social and economic sciences or a related field with a focus on quantitative empirical research
- Completed doctoral degree with honors
- In-depth expertise in educational, labor market, and life course research
- Outstanding empirical statistical skills; knowledge of event analysis and especially of panel econometrics would also be desirable
- Lecture and publication experience
- Very good command of English enabling communication within the international project team, presentations at international conferences, and publications in international English-language journals
- Independent, self-reliant, and committed approach to your work
- Strong organizational and coordination skills

The position will be paid in line with the TVöD Bund pay scale, salary group EG 14. The contract will initially be for a fixed-term period of three years with the possibility of extension.
