The importance of children and their wellbeing for the future of all societies everywhere meets with approval. The investigation of material deprivation of children in politics, the media and society is of enormous importance. However, due to different calculation methods child poverty figures are often far from being comparable. A detailed look at the origin and calculation of these figures is absolutely necessary to avoid possible misinterpretation.
