Research Topics and Working Areas
Christian Hunkler is the division head of Survey Methodology and Management of the Socio-Economic Panel (SOEP) at DIW Berlin. He is a social scientist and his research focuses particularly on migration, inequality, survey research methods, and the use of process-generated “big data" in social science research. Before joining SOEP in 2025, he worked as a research associate at Humboldt University Berlin and the Max Planck Institute for Social Law and Social Policy in Munich.
