The Executive Board of DIW Berlin is happy to announce that the Appointment Commission of DIW Berlin selected Associate Professor Peter Egger (University of Innsbruck) as first choice candidate for the position as Head of Department of International Economics.
The interview process, to which four other candidates had been invited and which included a presentation, took place in June of 2004. At present, DIW Berlin is negotiating intensely with the universities in Berlin and Brandenburg for the joint appointment of Mr. Egger, who is a distinguished economist. The joint appointment with a university, which is applied with all department heads of DIW Berlin, ensures the excellent scientific quality of research and policy advice of DIW Berlin.
Peter Egger, 34, is currently Associate Professor at the University of Innsbruck. His research focuses on applied and theoretical panel econometrics, international economics, industrial organization and multinational firms.
