2nd general assembly of the Global Young Academy

Tilman Brück attended the second general assembly of the Global Young Academy, which is the voice of young scientists around the world. Tilman is a co-founder of the GYA and had hosted the first general assembly at DIW in Berlin in early 2011. This year's assembly was held in Johannesburg, South Africa, and was supported by the German-South African year of science. Keynote speakers included Naledi Pandor, the South African minister of science and technology, Bruce Alberts, editor-in-chief of Science magazine, Howard Alper, co-chair of the InterAcademy Panel, Helmut Schwarz, president of the Humboldt Foundation, and Lee Berger, the South Africa-based paleo-anthropologist. Delegates of the general assembly also discussed a statement on sustainability to be issued at the Rio+20 conference.
