You can send the remaining documents directly to recruiting@diw.de by email. Please include your name and the reference number of your application so we can assign the documents correctly.
Can I also submit an unsolicited application to DIW Berlin?
Although we greatly appreciate initiative, we generally cannot consider unsolicited applications. Positions we wish to fill are publicly advertised. Current vacancies can be found on our website under Careers. Unsolicited applications are only accepted for mandatory internships.
I am interested in more than one advertised position. May I apply for multiple positions at the same time?
You may apply for more than one position via the online portal. Please submit a separate application for each reference number.

How long will I have to wait for a response, and how long does the selection process take?
After submitting your online application, you will immediately receive a confirmation of receipt. We provide timely feedback on whether you have been shortlisted. Please understand that the duration depends on various factors and may vary by position. You can inquire about the status of your application at any time via recruiting@diw.de.
What happens after I apply?
We carefully review your application. If you convince us during the preselection process, we will invite you to a personal interview.
What is the procedure for the personal interview?
The personal interview serves as an opportunity for mutual acquaintance. It allows us to introduce the position and DIW Berlin as an employer in detail and to learn more about your skills and experiences that you wish to contribute to DIW Berlin. You are also welcome to prepare questions for us. The selection committee usually includes the responsible department head, colleagues from the hiring department, representatives from the HR and Organization department, and the works council. In some cases, the gender equality officer is also present.
If you indicated a severe disability (according to SGB IX § 2) in your application, the selection process will also be accompanied by the representative for severely disabled persons and the inclusion officer in accordance with SGB IX. If additional tasks are part of the interview process, we will inform you in advance in your invitation. For academic positions, a scientific presentation or lecture is typically required.
How do I find my way to the personal interview?
You will find us at Anton-Wilhelm-Amo-Str. 58, 10117 Berlin. Unless otherwise agreed, please ring the bell at the entrance and report to reception on floor E+.
Will I be reimbursed for travel expenses if I need to travel for the interview?
For travel from within Germany or the EU, we generally reimburse travel expenses in accordance with the Federal Travel Expenses Act. Details regarding reimbursement will be provided along with your interview invitation.
