The German Institute for Economic Research (DIW Berlin) offers students the opportunity to gain insights into empirical and theoretical economic research as part of a compulsory internship required by their study regulations.

The requirements for a compulsory internship are enrolment at a German university or college and written proof that the compulsory internship has not yet been completed.

DIW Berlin offers voluntary internships exclusively after prior advertisement.

Your internship responsibilities

  • Supporting data analysis and literature research
  • Collaborating on research projects in the fields of macroeconomics, social policy, labour market, environmental economics and other areas of focus
  • Preparing and processing scientific results

We offer you

  • An expense allowance of € 400 gross per month
