Several well-known scholars from the field of economics and political sciences attended this annual interdisciplinary meeting of European peace researchers, which was funded by the German Research Foundation (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, DFG), the Brandenburgische Institute for Society and Security, and the Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP). A high level of originality, scientific quality, and lively debates characterized the conference. Presenters included Bernd Beber (New York University), Manas Chatterji (Binghamton University), Paul Dunne (University of Cape Town), Marc Kilgour (Seton Hall University), Kai Konrad (Max Planck Institute for Tax Law and Public Finance), Cliff Morgan (Rice University), Camilla Schippa (Institute for Economics and Peace), Gerald Schneider (University of Konstanz) and Damien Walque (World Bank).
Furthermore, the meeting offered an opportunity for PhD students to present their theoretical models and preliminary findings and discuss their research with an audience of international scholars. At the end of the second day, Sebastian Schutte from the ETH Zürich received the Stuart A. Bremer Graduate Travel Award, which aims at enhancing the cooperation between young North American and European peace researchers.
