Different narratives on the effects of climate policy have a measurable impact on populist attitudes across various population groups

The infographic for Weekly report 38-39 2025 shows summarized forecasts for climate costs in Germany and visualizes the economic savings achieved through renewable energies, particularly in terms of energy imports and healthcare costs. It covers the period from 2018 to 2021, during which unusual weather events such as the heat waves of 2019 and 2018 and the floods in July 2021 caused damage amounting to €75 billion alone. The infographic highlights the annual savings achieved through renewable energies from 2021 onwards in billions of euros. Next to this is a bar chart showing the projected economic costs from 2022 to 2050 on a scale of 280 to 800 billion euros. Further sections show the costs of energy imports and healthcare costs associated with climate impacts.
