Lorenz Meister is a PhD student at the DIW Graduate Center and a research associate at the Socio-Economic Panel. His research focuses on political economy, with an emphasis on threats to democracy. He previously worked for the OECD, the United Nations, and the Max Planck Institute for Social Law and Social Policy. In 2024, he was a Visiting Fellow at Harvard’s Opportunity Insights Lab, invited by Raj Chetty, where he researched social mobility and populism. In 2025, he will be a visiting researcher at the World Inequality Lab at the Paris School of Economics, invited by Lucas Chancel and Thomas Piketty.
