Lorenz Meister joined the DIW GC as a PhD student in 2020. Since 2021, he has been a research associate at the Socioeconomic Panel. His research is in the field of political economy, with special focus on threats to democracy. Previously, he worked for the OECD, the United Nations Secretariat, and the Max Planck Institute for Social Law and Social Policy. Since January 2024, he has been a Visiting Fellow at Harvard University's Opportunity Insights Lab on the invitation of Raj Chetty, where he investigates the intricacies of social mobility and populism.
