International comparison of R&D-intensive industries and knowledge-intensive services

As part of this research project DIW Berlin will use "output indicators" to evaluate the technological capability of Germany. Market results for research-intensive goods and knowledge-based services are analysed according to foreign trade streams as well as overall production and productivity trends. The study aims to establish Germany's position against its key competitors in terms of the supply and demand of R&D-intensive goods and knowledge-intensive services as well as productivity trends.

The DIW Berlin contributions will focus on an international comparison. Further input by our research partner NIW will explore the situation within Germany.
