Jan-Christopher Scherer is a Research Associate in Forecasting and Economic Policy in the Department of Macroeconomics, where he is responsible for the national accounts and heading the German forecast. After studying economics at the University of Mannheim (bachelor's degree) and the Barcelona Graduate School of Economics (master's degree), he earned his doctorate in the Doctoral Program in Economics at the Halle Institute for Economic Research (IWH) and worked as a Research Associate in the economic forecasting team. After completing his dissertation entitled "The Role of Interdependencies Between the Micro and Macro Level in Explaining Investment Dynamics and its Determinants" in 2021, Jan worked at the European Central Bank and as a postdoctoral researcher at IWH.
