Cristóbal MoyaThe German Socio-Economic Panel Study is a representative panel study for the German population, collecting data on a broad variety of topics of everyday life, including general well-being, household composition, educational aspirations and educational status, income and occupational biographies, leisure time activities, housing, health, political orientation and more. With its long-running panel structure, the breadth of topics and the representative nature of the data, the SOEP has become a central resource for quantitative research in the social sciences in Germany.
Target, registration, and other information
This online workshop series takes place on 3 Wednesdays in November 2026 (Nov 4, 11, and 18) through lunchtime and offers a short online introduction to the data of the Socio-economic panel study. Participants will be introduced to the content of the study, its data structure, sample selection, and the weighting strategy and they will be provided with an overview over the study documentation.
For the online seminar we use the video call tool Microsoft Teams. If you want to join the workshop, please register by e-mail at soepcampus@diw.de stating your name and institution until November 3, 2026. Invitations with the link to the online platform as well as any other materials will be sent out the week before the first session. The workshop will not be recorded, but more training sessions are held regularly throughout the year. In addition, we are currently working on a video series that will provide guidance to first-time users.
There is no limitation on participants - so everyone will get a spot! The workshop will be held in English and participation is free of charge. Questions will be taken throughout the workshop!
