I am interested in understanding how our environments shape personality, including the Big Five, well-being, and health. In my research, I use longitudinal data to examine how personality changes over time, and I am particularly interested in whether these changes depend on the social and physical contexts in which people live. I take a broad view of environment: I am interested in how the values, attitudes, and norms of the people around us, as well as regional characteristics such as median income, residential mobility, and migration rates, influence individual development.
