Workshop for Women in Macroeconomics, Finance and Economic History

About WIMFEH

The annual Workshop for Women in Macroeconomics, Finance and Economic History (WIMFEH) is organized by the DIW Berlin and the University of Bonn. The aim is to bring together female academic researchers and practitioners to promote and exchange ideas in the field of Macroeconomics, Finance, and Economic History.

6th Workshop (May 7 – 8, 2026)

DIW Berlin and the University of Bonn are pleased to host the 6th Workshop for Women in Macroeconomics, Finance, and Economic History (WIMFEH) at DIW Berlin from May 7 to 8, 2026. The goal is to bring together female academic researchers and practitioners to promote the exchange of ideas and experience in the fields of Macroeconomics, Finance, and Economic History. We invite contributions, including, but not limited to:

• Financial Intermediation and Institutions
• Micro-level decision making and its transmission to the macro level
• Labor markets, fiscal policy and business cycles

The conference shall facilitate and support the formation of professional networks among female economists across academia and policy institutions. Each conference day will feature a keynote lecture by an invited speaker, contributed papers and discussions.

Conference contributions call for papers (PDF, 189.84 KB ) can be submitted with this form until January 31, 2026.

Invited keynote lectures will be given by:

Kalina Manova (University College London)
Cecilia Parliatore (New York University, Stern School of Business)

Each will share their experiences and provide insights regarding research careers in economics.

5th Workshop (May 5 – 6, 2025)

The 5th annual Workshop for Women in Macroeconomics, Finance and Economic History will be held at the DIW, May 5 – 6, 2025. The aim is to bring together female academic researchers and practitioners to promote the exchange of ideas and experience in the fields of Macroeconomics, Finance, and Economic History. Conference contributions (call for papers (PDF, 157.28 KB)) can be submitted until January 31, 2025.

• Stefanie Huber (University of Bonn)
• Antonella Trigari (Bocconi University)

4th Workshop (May 2 – 3, 2024)

The 4th annual Workshop for Women in Macroeconomics, Finance and Economic History will be held at the DIW, May 2 – 3, 2024. The aim is to bring together female academic researchers and practitioners to promote the exchange of ideas and experience in the fields of Macroeconomics, Finance, and Economic History. Conference contributions (call for papers) can be submitted til February, 19.

Keynote lectures will be given by:

• Christina Gathmann (LISER, and University of Luxembourg)
• Aude Pommeret (Université Savoie Mont Blanc)

3rd Workshop (May 3 – 4, 2023)

The 3rd annual Workshop for Women in Macroeconomics, Finance and Economic History will take place on May 3 – 4, 2023. The submission deadline for papers (PDF, 157.47 KB) is February 19, 2023.

2nd Workshop (May 3 – 4, 2021)

The 2nd annual Workshop for Women in Macroeconomics, Finance and Economic History will take place on May 3 – 4, 2021. The submission deadline is February 28, 2021.

• Marie Hoerova (European Central Bank - ECB)

1st Workshop (June 17 – 18, 2019)

The 1st annual Workshop for Women in Macroeconomics, Finance and Economic History featured keynote lectures by Claudia M. Buch (European Centralbank), Nicola Fuchs-Schündeln (Goethe University Frankfurt) and Raffaela Giacomini (University College London).
