Recurring Project
Each spring and fall, the Joint Economic Forecast Exercise forecasts macroeconomic developments in Germany, the European Union, and worldwide. The assessment of the global and European economic environment is broken down by country. For Germany, a short-term economic forecast is prepared using the circular flow model of the national accounts, along with a projection of medium-term developments, including an estimate of potential output. In addition to the assessment of the global economic environment, the forecast of economic developments in Germany is based on an assessment of the economic policy framework, taking institutional conditions into account. Based on assessments of economic trends, policy recommendations for economic policy are made.
