Ph.D. Student
Macroeconomics Department
Nina is a second-year doctoral researcher in the PhD program at DIW Berlin, working within the Macroeconomics Department. As a member of the institute's forecasting team, she focuses on forecasting the German inflation rate and the broader European economy. Her responsibilities include the development and refinement of forecasting models, as well as the interpretation of macroeconomic trends for policy and public audiences. Nina’s research interests center on macroeconomically significant issues, with a particular focus on business cycle dynamics. Her current research project focuses on forecasting income inequality, aiming to develop tools that provide earlier and more reliable insights into shifts in economic inequality. This work bridges applied macroeconomics and public policy, with the goal of informing more equitable economic decision-making. Before starting her doctoral studies, Nina gained hands-on experience in project management, having worked in both start-up and scale-up environments. She holds a master’s degree from the Netherlands, where her thesis explored the consistency and effectiveness of European sanction regimes in Sub-Saharan Africa.
