The DIW Graduate Center offers a top-class doctoral program in economics in cooperation with Berlin universities. It currently has about 50 young, highly motivated PhD students from all over the world. For this purpose, the department is looking for a

Postdoc (f/m/nonbinary), full-time at 39 hours per week, part-time possible, starting from September 1st, 2023.

Main responsibilities

  • Conducting high-level research in the field of microeconomics, preferably labor economics.
  • Teaching the introductory mathematics course and Econometrics I in the structured doctoral program of the Graduate Center and the Berlin School of Economics (BSE), a joint doctoral program of the Berlin universities.
  • Assisting the Graduate Center Team with the recruiting process of future cohorts of PhD students.
  • Research with SOEP data and contributing to its improvement and usability.

Qualifications

  • PhD or nearly completed PhD in economics.
  • Basic knowledge in scientific teaching.
  • A sound knowledge of mathematics and econometrics.
  • Experience in micro-econometrics and panel-data econometrics.
  • Experience in the design and use of surveys.
  • Applicants must demonstrate the ability to make a significant contribution to academic research and policy analysis.
  • Publications in peer-reviewed international journals.
  • Excellent knowledge of English and German.
  • Ability to work in dynamic and international teams.
  • Ability to work independently.

Salary will be paid based on TVöD group 14. The position is limited to 6 years.
