SEI is an independent international research institute with 7 centers in Europe, the US, Asia and Africa. We conduct applied scientific research, bringing the best available science to policy makers. This talk will give an overview of the climate change work at our US offices and will include introductions to:

  • Energy scenario work with SEI's modeling tool LEAP,
  • SEI's climate economics work based on a precautionary, insurance-based approach combined with recent advances in climate science and the economics of uncertainty.
  • The Greenhouse Development Rights Framework, an international policy framework designed to support an emergency climate stabilization program while, at the same time, preserving the right to development for the poor in all countries.
  • Analysis of national and international climate mitigation policies with a focus on offsetting mechanisms
