Carl has joined the DIW as a doctoral student in October 2023. Prior to joining DIW, he worked as an analyst at the Monopolies Commission, conducting empirical research related to the energy crisis in Europe. He obtained both a master’s and a bachelor’s degree in economics from University of Mannheim, specializing in applied econometrics, industrial organization, and energy economics. After completing his undergraduate studies, he gained experience in economic consulting and research at Frontier Economics and the Leibniz Centre for European Economic Research (ZEW). His research interests lie in industrial organization, particularly related to digital, energy, and health markets.
