Research Topics and Working Areas

Dr. Elena Sommer works as a survey manager in the SUARE project (Longitudinal Study of Ukrainian Refugees in Germany). Prior to her move to SOEP, she worked at the Survey of Health, Ageing, and Retirement in Europe (SHARE) and at the European Social Survey (ESS) in the questionnaire development and survey operations. She studied geography in Cologne and Birmingham and received her PhD in social sciences from the Bremen International Graduate School of Social Sciences (BIGSSS). Her research interests are survey methodology, migration, social capital and intergenerational solidarity.
