Research Topics and Working Areas
Dr. Thilo Kroeger is scientific advisor and postdoctoral researcher in the Firms and Markets Department. His research focuses on international economics, labor economics, and development economics. More specifically, he studies producer-level responses to globalization and the effects of structural change on labor demand and workers. Before joining DIW Berlin, he was a senior economist on the scientific staff of the German Council of Economic Experts. He earned his PhD at the Christian-Albrechts-University Kiel and completed research stays at Yale University and the International Monetary Fund. Among other roles, he has worked as a research associate for the Commission of Experts on Research and Innovation (EFI). He studied economics in Kiel, Glasgow, Mannheim, and Stockholm, and completed the Advanced Studies Program at the Kiel Institute for the World Economy. He is an External Research Fellow at the Kiel Centre for Globalization and an external postdoc at the University of Copenhagen.
